Our client design, manufacture and sell advanced single and double deck buses within the automotive market. They have developed a range of low-carbon buses with optimised drive systems, setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction. Their lightweight engineering, premium service and low running costs all contribute to these advanced passenger vehicles designed for a global market.
As Battery Mechanical Systems Engineer you will support the integration, development, and test of the high voltage battery system of an Electric Vehicle, including safety, structural integrity, durability, and certification. You will also specify the packaging and integration features required for the battery applications.
Leading the definition of battery system packaging, mounting and mechanical integration
Creating 2D drawings for vehicle manufacture
Creating 3D CAD models, including key features for approval with the vehicle mechanical teams
Supporting the product integration from specification to certification
Ensuring the required CAE specification, analysis and validation is completed
Ensuring the required CAE crash analysis, specification and validation is completed
Developing the specifications for all subsystems in the portfolio
Deliver projects on time and within cost constraints
Carrying out verification testing and validation
Supporting issue resolution of systems and technical problems
Leading testing activity to meet certification requirements
Managing the suppliers of the subsystems
Designing appropriate DVVP, Design and Test standards at all levels
You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in design and integration of thermal systems in the vehicle industry, and analysis and design of mechanical systems.
BTech / MTech in Mechanical Engineering
Hands on experience in analysis, design of mechanical and structural systems
Experience of prototype vehicle build up, system commissioning and managing issue resolution
Understanding of supplier landscape and experience of managing supplier technical delivery
Hands on experience using mechanical test facilities and system integration testing
Ability to determine root cause of design failures
Experience in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software tools such as RADIOS, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.
Strong track record of system integration and delivery - automotive domain is preferred
Analytical with strong attention to detail
Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
